Our Policies and Procedures

We believe that communication leads to understanding. Our goal is to provide you with the best oral and maxillofacial surgical care and to make your visits as pleasant as possible. Our staff is available to answer any questions you may have concerning the payment and insurance guidelines listed below. Please feel free to discuss any questions or concerns about your care.

Payment Options
We will discuss surgical fees and payment options on the day of your initial consultation. We require the consultation fee and any radiograph fees on the day of consultation. To learn more about what the consultation will involve, see consult description below. We also offer the Dental Fee Plan as a payment option.

For Patients With Insurance Coverage
We require 1/3 of the entire surgical fee on the day of your surgery. Once the surgery has been performed, we will file the entire surgery amount with your insurance company as a courtesy. We are not participating providers and can not guarantee what any insurance company will pay. Therefore, it is up to you as our patient to clear your account of any charges within 90 days regardless of what your insurance company does or does not pay.

For Patients Without Insurance Coverage
Patients without insurance have the option of paying the entire surgery amount on the day of their surgery and receiving a discount. If you would rather set up a payment plan, we will divide your surgical fee into three payments, the first of which is due on the day of surgery. It is your responsibility as our patient to clear your account of all charges within 90 days. We also offer the Dental Fee Plan as a payment option.

We consult at length and in depth with each patient prior to surgery. During this appointment, we review the patient's medical history, perform a clinical examination, complete a diagnosis and recommend a course of treatment. We discuss the anesthetic technique to be used in the procedure and review appropriate precautions. At this time we are able to present an estimate of fees and complete financial counseling and insurance arrangements. It is mandatory that a parent be present for consultations with patients who are under 18 years of age. It is mandatory that a parent be present for the surgical appointment in order to sign a consent form.

You may make your appointment with the doctor of your choice. We make every effort to have the patient seen by the same doctor at each visit, but due to the conflicting schedules of both patients and doctors, this is not always possible.

Insurance Coverage
In most cases, dental insurance does not cover the full cost of surgical care. It is designed to reduce your cost but not to eliminate it completely. Please remember that you are fully responsible for all fees charged by this office regardless of your insurance coverage.

Infection Control and Prevention of Disease Transmission
All procedures are done following universal precautions which include use of gloves, mask and eye protection. All instruments go through a vigorous sterilization process after each use. While the risk of infection is substantially greater to the doctor and staff than to the patient, we have concern for everyone's safety and we will continue to be at the leading edge of any technology that becomes available in this regard.
